DETAILS: The Nice Guy Trio creates a sound that is both intimate and reflective of their contrasting yet complimentary musical backgrounds, and always with an emphasis on spontaneity. In concert they navigate through a uniquely diverse collection of original compositions and songs from folk traditions all around the globe, from jazz to klezmer to Balkan dance forms, to calypso and beyond. They have performed in venues, big and small, from Jazz at Chez Hanny and Café Royale, to The Great American Music Hall, and the Yerba Buena Garden Festival.
The Nice Guy Trio is Darren Johnston on trumpet, Rob Reich on accordion, and Daniel Fabricant on bass. Their sound is a unique mix of roots and innovation, of soulfulness and humor. In concert they focus on their own original compositions, occasionally adding songs by jazz greats, by their favorite local composers, or pieces from various folk traditions.
Founded in 2007, the “Nice Guys” have performed in venues big and small, from local organic gems like Jazz at Chez Hanny and the Café Royale, to classic institutions such as The Monterey Jazz Festival, The Great American Music Hall, Yoshi’s, the Yerba-Buena Garden Festival, and for SF Jazz’s “Summerfest,”
Intersection for the Arts curates live music and theater performances to appear at Off The Grid’s lunch market at 5th and Minna St. Join us for this one-of-a-kind food and art experience.
