BOOST THE LOCAL ECONOMY

The Challenge:  The 5M site marks the intersection between several neighborhoods and local economies that do not share economic activity. Businesses are struggling for the customers they need to succeed. There isn't enough foot traffic on the surrounding streets and alleyways for people to feel safe around the clock. Jobs, training and access to entrepreneurial resources that can give an underserved community a leg up are in short supply. There are so many good ideas ready to take root, but as yet, they haven’t had the support to help them grow.

The Opportunity:  Unlock economic opportunity for the local community in the following ways: Help inspire entrepreneurial thinking. Support ideas so that they can flourish into businesses. Increase the impact of our community organizations. Build a sense of empowerment in our children. Put more people and businesses on the streets to attract customers and the desired density that can thereby make the environment safer, day and night.
